Q: What is the history of Otsutome? Did Honen Shonin create it as the standard liturgy of Jodo-shu, or was it a later development?

A: The present style of Otsutome was developed in the Meiji Era. It was not created by Honen Shonin. We are now working on a commentary book on Otsuome, which will include a short history of Otsutome and the reason why we are spreading Otsutome. Please wait for publication.

[1-May-2022] I am frequently asked where to buy a wagesa. This hangesa (=wagesa) seller page is available now. Note that sometimes an eBay seller's site is changed. If you find a new seller or an invalidated page or the like, please tell me to update the link.

The samples of KAKEJIKU are shown in the right photo. (The listed price includes a pair of KAKEJIKUs (Honen Shonin and Master Zendo), and shipping fees.) The sizes (20/30/50) are in centimeters length and width.
